VirtualBox is
a popular virtualization software that allows users to run multiple operating
systems on a single computer. It provides a convenient and safe way to explore
new operating systems without affecting your primary system. ReviOS is a
lightweight Linux distribution designed with a focus on security and privacy.
In this blog, we will walk you through the process of downloading and
installing ReviOS in VirtualBox, enabling you to experience its features in a
virtual environment.
Step
1: Downloading VirtualBox Before we begin, you need to download and install
Oracle VM VirtualBox on your computer. You can find the latest version of
VirtualBox on the official Oracle website (https://www.virtualbox.org).
Make sure to select the appropriate version for your operating system.
Step
2: Downloading ReviOS Once you have VirtualBox installed, it's time to obtain
the ReviOS ISO file. Visit the official ReviOS website (https://www.revios.org)
and navigate to the Downloads section. Look for the latest stable version of
ReviOS and click on the download link to save the ISO file to your computer.
Step
3: Creating a New Virtual Machine Launch VirtualBox and click on the
"New" button to create a new virtual machine. Provide a name for your
virtual machine (e.g., ReviOS), select "Linux" as the Type, and
choose "Other Linux (64-bit)" as the Version. Click "Next"
to proceed.
Step
4: Configuring Memory and Hard Disk In this step, you need to allocate memory
to the virtual machine. ReviOS can run smoothly with 2GB of RAM, but you can
adjust this value based on your system's resources. Allocate an appropriate amount
of memory and click "Next." In the following window, select
"Create a virtual hard disk now" and click "Create."
Step
5: Hard Disk File Type Choose "VDI (VirtualBox Disk Image)" as the
file type and click "Next."
Step
6: Storage on Physical Hard Disk For optimal performance, it's recommended to
select "Dynamically allocated" as the storage type. This option
allows the virtual disk to grow as you use it, consuming only the actual space
required on the host machine's hard disk. Click "Next" to proceed.
Step
7: Hard Disk File Location and Size Select the location where you want to save
the virtual disk file and allocate an appropriate size for the ReviOS
installation. The default size is usually sufficient, but you can adjust it
according to your needs. Once done, click "Create."
Step
8: Installing ReviOS in VirtualBox With the virtual machine created, select it
from the VirtualBox Manager window and click on the "Settings"
button. In the settings window, go to the "Storage" tab and click on
the empty CD/DVD drive. On the right side of the window, click on the CD icon
and select "Choose a disk file." Browse and select the ReviOS ISO
file you downloaded earlier.
Step
9: Starting the Virtual Machine After attaching the ReviOS ISO to the virtual
machine, click "OK" to save the settings. Now, select the virtual
machine from the VirtualBox Manager window and click the "Start"
button to launch it. The ReviOS installation process should begin.
Step
10: Installing ReviOS Follow the on-screen instructions to install ReviOS in
VirtualBox. Choose the language, configure your keyboard layout, and select the
appropriate options during the installation process. Once the installation is
complete, the virtual machine will restart.
Step
11: Post-Installation Configuration After the virtual machine restarts,
